Facebook Marketplace fees: questions sellers ask

How much does Facebook Marketplace charge sellers?

Nothing for local pickup paid in person. Orders shipped through Facebook checkout pay a selling fee of 10% of the order, or $0.80 on orders under $8.

Is shipping included in the fee?

Yes. The 10% is charged on the item price, the shipping your buyer pays and the sales tax on the order.

Is local pickup free on Facebook Marketplace?

Yes. There is no selling fee for local pickup or for buyers who pay you outside Facebook checkout, such as with PayPal. There is also no listing fee or subscription. Local sales aren’t covered by Purchase Protection.

Does Facebook Marketplace charge 10% or 5%?

10%, with a $0.80 minimum per order, on shipped orders paid through checkout. The fee was 5% with a $0.40 minimum until it rose on 15 April 2024, so sources quoting 5% are out of date.

Do I pay Facebook Marketplace fees if my item doesn’t sell?

No. The selling fee is deducted from payments you receive, so if the item doesn’t sell you pay nothing.

Does Facebook refund the selling fee if the buyer returns the item?

Facebook’s pages don’t say. They only say a refund to the buyer is taken from your balance or pending payout, covering item price, shipping and tax.

Who can sell with shipping?

Eligible sellers in the continental US, for items from $2 to $500 in categories that allow shipping. Facebook decides eligibility from your account and Marketplace history.

What is not included?

The shipping label, if you pay for it (enter it as shipping cost), seller-specific promotional fee rates and fees for business accounts using Shops.
