Etsy UK fees: questions sellers ask

How much does Etsy charge UK sellers?

A listing fee of 0.20 USD (about 15p), a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus postage and gift wrap, a 0.48% Regulatory Operating fee, and payment processing of 4% + £0.20 per order. Unless you have given Etsy a VAT number, 20% VAT is added to all of them.

Do I pay VAT on Etsy fees?

Yes, if you have not given Etsy a VAT ID, which is the case for most small sellers. If you are VAT-registered and have added your number, Etsy charges no VAT on its fees; pick a “VAT ID given to Etsy” option.

What is the Regulatory Operating fee?

A fee Etsy charges UK sellers to cover the cost of regulation: 0.48% of the item price plus postage and gift wrap. It rose from 0.32% on 22 June 2026.

Does Etsy charge fees on postage?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee, the 0.48% Regulatory Operating fee and the payment processing fee are all charged on postage and gift wrapping as well as the item price. VAT is added unless you’ve given Etsy a VAT ID.

Is there a monthly or setup fee on Etsy UK?

The fees here are per listing and per sale. The only monthly charge is the optional Etsy Plus subscription at 10 USD a month, converted to pounds. Opening a shop has a one-time setup fee that varies by location; no UK amount is published.

Is there a currency conversion fee on Etsy UK?

Only if your listing currency differs from your payment account currency, when Etsy charges 2.5% on the sale. If you list in pounds and are paid into a UK bank account, you pay none.

What is the payment processing fee on Etsy UK?

4% + £0.20 per order, taken from the order total including postage and any sales tax, plus 20% VAT unless you’ve given Etsy a VAT ID. There is no separate domestic or international rate.

When do I pay for Offsite Ads?

Only when a buyer clicks one of Etsy’s ads on another site and orders within 30 days. The fee is 15% of the order, or 12% for life once your shop has made 10,000 USD in sales in a year, and never more than 100 USD (about £74.80) per order.

Why does the listing fee change slightly?

Etsy charges it in US dollars and converts it to pounds at the market rate. NetPayout uses a reference exchange rate updated every month, so the result can differ by a penny.

What is not included?

The 2.5% currency conversion fee, Etsy Plus, the one-time shop setup fee and Share & Save credits. VAT on Etsy Ads is not added, so enter an Etsy Ads cost that includes it.
