Questions sellers ask

Do private sellers pay eBay fees in the UK?

No final value fee and no regulatory operating fee on UK sales. The buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee on top of your price, so you receive the full amount. You only pay if you promote the listing.

Why is VAT added to the fees?

eBay quotes business fees excluding VAT and adds 20% on top; it also adds VAT to private sellers’ ad fees. VAT-registered businesses can usually reclaim it, so their real cost is the fee total divided by 1.2.

Should I enter my price with or without VAT?

With VAT, as buyers see it. eBay charges business fees on the VAT-inclusive total including postage. The VAT you owe HMRC on the sale is not included.

How do trainers at £100 or more work?

Business sellers pay 7% instead of 11.9% when the item price is £100 or more. NetPayout applies 7% to the whole total including postage and keeps the per-order fee, as eBay UK’s page does not say otherwise.

What is not included?

International fees, currency conversion, insertion fees beyond your free allowance, Top Rated discounts, below-standard surcharges and vehicle categories.
