How NetPayout works
Each calculator applies a marketplace’s published fees to your sale and shows what reaches your account. Here is what happens to the numbers you type in.
- 1
Pick your marketplace
There is one calculator for each of 8 marketplaces, with separate US and UK versions where the fees differ.
- 2
Enter the sale
Type the sale price, any shipping the buyer pays, what the item cost you and what you pay to ship it. If you pay for ads or boosts, add that rate, and choose any option the marketplace charges differently for.
- 3
Read what you keep
Every fee appears on its own line, followed by your payout and your profit. The numbers update as you type, so you can try a few prices.
- 4
Or work backwards
Switch to “Find my price”, enter the profit you want and the calculator finds a sale price that reaches it, up to $100,000.00.
The sums
- Payout
- Sale price plus shipping the buyer paid, minus every fee.
- Profit
- Payout minus what the item cost you and what you paid to ship it.
- Margin
- Profit as a share of what the buyer paid you.
Where the fees come from
Every fee rule is read from the marketplace’s own help and policy pages, not from other calculators. Each calculator links those pages, gives the date its fees took effect and keeps a changelog, so you can check any number yourself.
Rounding
Money is counted in whole cents and pennies. Each fee is rounded to the nearest cent or penny, with half rounding up. Most marketplaces do not publish their rounding rules, so a receipt can differ by one cent or penny.
What is left out
Charges the buyer pays on top of your price, such as buyer protection fees and sales tax, do not come out of your payout, so they are not counted. Each calculator’s questions section lists anything specific to that marketplace.
Your numbers stay with you
The calculations run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or saved, and there is no account to make.
